WHat to expect during a family session.

A family photo session is a great opportunity to capture your family's memories and create beautiful photographs that you can treasure for years to come. Whether you're taking photos for a special occasion or just to document your family's growth, it's important to know what to expect from a family photo session so that you can be prepared and get the best possible results.

Here are some things to keep in mind before and during your family photo session:

1. Choose the right photographer(hopefully me!)

The first step to a successful family photo session is to choose the right photographer. Look for someone who has experience working with families and who can capture your family's unique personality and style. Read reviews and ask for recommendations from friends and family to find a photographer who you feel comfortable with.

2. Plan your outfits

Your outfits can have a big impact on the final result of your family photos, so plan them carefully. Choose colors and styles that complement each other, and avoid patterns or logos that can be distracting. Coordinate your outfits with your family members to create a cohesive look. Your photographer will be more than happy to assist you with this. To make sure you look, and feel your best!

3. Choose a location

The location of your photo session is also important. Consider a place that is meaningful to your family, such as your home or a park where you enjoy spending time. Talk to your photographer about their recommendations for locations that offer great lighting and backgrounds. I am located in beautiful Lafayette, Indiana where there are a ton of beautiful locations to choose from.

4. Prepare your kids

If you have young children, it's important to prepare them for the photo session. Let them know what to expect and talk to them about how much fun it will be. Bring along snacks and toys to keep them entertained during breaks. Being a mom to two toddlers I KNOW this can be a challenge for some kiddos. But, I have learned that if you're relaxed and calm. They sometimes follow suit.

5. Relax and have fun!

During our session, try to relax and have fun! I will guide you through different poses and will work to capture your family's natural interactions. Don't be afraid to be yourself and enjoy the experience.

6. Trust your photographer

Finally, trust your photographer. We have experience working with families and will know how to capture the best possible shots. If we suggest a particular pose or location, trust our expertise and go with it. You be thankful you did!

By following these tips, you can help ensure a successful family photo session and create beautiful photographs that you'll cherish for many years to come!
